The Remix Contest

So yeah, it’s mp3’s. I really didn’t think anyone would care that much, but apparently folks do. So, at the moment, I’m encoding the tracks exactly how I did before, only WAV. Beyond that, there’s really not much room to complain on account that:

A) The samples I’ve used were recorded on tape. A long time ago. So sound quality there is helpless.

B) With that in mind, it sounds ridiculous to have ultra hi-res shit over low-res shit. It just doesn’t sound right. So, you try your best to mix and master to a comfortable medium which would lie within the confines of the 48/16 wav’s that will be posted shortly.

I do appreciate the attention to detail and quality, however. It’s good to know that there are some people out there who still give a shit about sound quality.

It should be all available within the next day or two. Check it out.

At The Elbo Room

Thursday, February 12th, Braydon (Dr. Gottem Fupa) and I will be playing a set of my stuff at the Elbo Room in Chicago. The past several days have been spent synthesizing an array of samples and patches and project files to make for a live performance. The most unique and likely the most challenging part of doing this kind of music live in any “musical” sense is having to deconstruct a composition in order to understand how to actually perform it. Since I want to change things up instead of just playing exactly what’s recorded, the effort has been spent in creating a little more of an erratic wackiness.

Between this and school, it’s been difficult to keep up. Really, I don’t have much of an excuse, I feel like I’m being lazy, but I spend hours each day working on this stuff. I just wish I had more and better equipment.

Anyway, if you’re interested in coming and happen to live in the area:
